As a Reform congregation whose members speak differing levels of English, Spanish and Hebrew, it became apparent at an early stage that we would need to develop our own study and worship material.  After a ten-year period of experimentation and trial and error, we published our own Siddur,  The Doors of Unity, a tri-lingual prayer book with transliteration, based on services in The Gates of Prayer, (CCAR) allowing all to worship together.

    The Doors of Unity for Shabbat , published by B'nei Israel, is available for $30.00 in hardcover.  It is currently being used by congregations in Costa Rica, Panama, and Cuba.

    The next stage was to develop a Machzor to accompany our Siddur.  The Doors of Unity for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur , based on services in The Gates of Repentance, (CCAR) is now available for $40 in hardcover.  It is currently being used by congregations in Costa Rica and Panama.

    We have grown to acknowledge that there is an absolute lack of material for study and personal growth on Reform Judaism in Spanish. There is much that reflects an orthodox point of view, but, although there is a great amount of wonderful material available published by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations in English, there is little or none in Spanish.  After receiving permission from the UAHC, we are in the final stages of publication of El Hogar Judío, by Rabbi Daniel B. Syme, completely translated into Spanish.  It will be available in the Fall of 2001.

    There are several other projects for translation of existing material into Spanish, and the publishing of original material in Spanish.  As the material is published, it will be announced. Those interested in joining in our project should please contact us as well.
